Mackie Hunter was our sole MLC AQUATIC representative again at Open Water Nationals and raced to her best ever results. In the 10km race Mack won SILVER in the 19 year old women’s category, sixth overall junior female.
Three days later Mackie returned to the ocean course at the iconic Busselton Jetty for the 5km distance. The tightly fought race came down to a sprint up the final strait. Four 18/19 junior female swimmers entered to finish chute shoulder to shoulder. As she reached up for the touch on the board in a photo finish, a video review showed Mackie had won by 0.2 seconds to take GOLD in 19 year old women’s race, clocking the fastest junior female time.
