We are beyond excited to welcome Mel Klamt to MLC Aquatic as our new Assistant Head Coach.
Mel joins MLC from Nunawading Swimming Club, where she most recently was the Head Junior Coach, overseeing the development of all swimmers and coaches in the Junior program.
Holding an Advanced level coaching qualification, and currently undertaking the Swimming Australia Performance Coaching qualification course, Mel has coached many medallists and finalists at an Australian and Victorian Age level over her 17 years of coaching, including at the recent Australian Age Championships.
Mel is a long standing member of the coaching team in the Victorian Performance Pathways and JX programs and was last year selected to be a part of the Swimming Australia “Women in Performance Coaching Leadership’’ program.
Aside from her coaching credentials, Mel’s biggest strength is her ability to communicate and build strong relationships with athletes at all levels to assist them in reaching their swimming goals. She has a proven track record of building high performing, positive teams and we look forward to having Mel bring these strengths to the MLC Swimming team.
Outside of coaching Mel holds a PHD in freshwater ecology and spends much of her free time volunteering in that field.
The coaching and management team and committee at MLC are extremely excited about Mel’s appointment into this role and we look forward to having her as part of the MLC team.
Mel will officially join the MLC team from Monday 29th May.
